Focus… Iris Van Herpen Haute Couture Collection FW 2012-13

Iris Van Herpen’s extraordinary Haute Couture collection for Fall 2012-13 takes us on a voyage to other worlds and crossing the boundaries of dress construction and materials.

Drawing most of her inspiration from Nature, the Dutch designer presented sculpted body armours made of copper, acrylic or leather with a very strong organic feel. Working in collaboration with architect Philip Beesley who develops ‘living sculptures’, and experimental chemist Rachel Armstrong, who works on ‘living technology’, Iris Van Herpen develops her creations digitally to create 3D patterns, before assembling her creations by hand. A dedication and incredible craftsmanship showing through every piece from her collection.

Let’s keep an eye on this amazing young designer, and her show-stopping creations.
