Top 10 Bags from the AW2013-14 Shows

I feel like I haven’t given a lot of love to handbags recently on this blog – and who knows me would vouch for my obsession for them… Let’s address this right away with 10 of the best specimens toted down the runway for AW13-14.

Python print is huge for spring and pre-fall, but Phillip Lim was one of the few designers to continue the exotic skin for 3.1 Phillip Lim AW13 collection. This leather cross-body bag is impossibly chic with its demure top handle and natural Python skin. This modern and minimalist purse by Alexander Wang is shaped like a double briefcase in grey ponyskin. A handheld tote both practical and chic? Yes, please.

This white leather Valentino might just be the perfect piece. I love how the accordion-style folds add interest while being utterly useful. Chic, simple and understated.

Celine has ventured into the world of triangles for its AW13-14 bags. Held together at the top by a silver ring punctured through the leather, this bag also folds to create a slouchy clutch with sharp bottom corners.

Karl Lagerfeld sent this miniature globe bag down the runway at Chanel for AW13-14, swinging on the label’s signature threaded chain. I’m not too sure how practical it would be, but it definitely makes a statement of its own.

It is not too hard to understand Dolce & Gabbana gold embellished mini doctor’s bag appeal. Just look at it. Matching the duo’s AW13-14 collection, it’s sure to add an instant hit of sparkle to any winter ensemble thanks to its rubies, sapphires and emeralds.

This black leather doctor’s bag from Giorgio Armani is divine and complements perfectly the AW13-14 mannish trend. Its large, structured shape and the subtle silver detailing work to exude discreet luxury. Perfection.

In neutral white and grey, or a natural brown, the grain-effect bottom of this Stella McCartney clutch gives this briefcase style a solid structure, while the leather top creates a clean contrasting surface. Sleek and contemporary, it is another accessory hit for Stella.

A sleek leather version of a backpack by Marni? Who could say no, looking at this amazing piece. Actually, stop reading this and scroll down to stare at it. It is really worth t

I love this thin belted leather clutch from Rochas. Ok, so it might be impossible to get your iPad, and other everyday must-have objects in the clutch, but I find the playfulness of the design extremely appealing.
